Vincent Vikings in action:
It is quite overwhelming what a totally standard-engine Lightning will do (OK, if you need to nitpick, I had to replace the piston rings as the original Specialloid rings simply came apart). Here is a video of us going down the short course on Bonneville. Note the amount of salt-spray from the rear wheel at speed i.e. loss of traction. The track was very rough and traction was poor. There was only 1 mile to reach top speed before the beginning of the timed mile. The Lightning easily accelerated to top velocity of about 140mph. Best speed of the week was 141.5mph. What a beast!!!
Note: This bike is also a Bonneville record holder in the vintage fuel class with a speed of 145.804mph.
Being there with the Australian Vincent Racing Team just added to the fun. Thank you to Malcolm and Team members!! What a great group of people.
