  • Photo of the Day: 02/02/25. In 1968 Alf Hagon became the first man in the UK to break the 200mph barrier on a motorcycle at RAF Honington runway which was normally used for military aircraft. Alf's home built sprinter was powered by a JAP V-twin engine out of a Cooper racing car, of mainly magnesium construction punched out to 1260cc using 90mm bore G50 Matchless pistons. The fastest standing quarter, and World record at the time, actually recorded by Alf on the Jap was 9.28 seconds with a terminal speed of 157mph.
